The TV series dedicated to God of War – in rumors for several months now – is finally official and the announcement comes directly from the Amazon Prime Video channels, the service that will host the series. At the moment there are no indications regarding the cast and the timing with which it will be produced, but these details will become clearer over the next few months.
The confirmation of the green light also comes through the official profiles of Santa Monica Studios, given that Cory Barlog himself – Creative Director of Santa Monica – has confirmed that he is involved in the project and has stated that it will take some time to find out more, so it is clear that production is still in the embryonic stages of the project.

Despite this, a first synopsis was shared which suggests that the series will be deeply linked to the Norse strand of the Kratos saga, going back to the events of the 2018. It cannot be excluded that the events narrated in Ragnarok could also be touched upon, the last chapter that we reviewed at the beginning of November . In fact, the synopsis reads:
The series follows the story of Kratos, the God of War who, after being exiled to get away from his bloody past in ancient Greece, has forever laid down his weapons in the northern kingdoms, in Midgard. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos prepares to embark on a perilous journey with his son—whose bond is particularly tenuous—to scatter his wife’s ashes on the highest peak of the kingdom, his last wish. Kratos will soon realize that this journey hides an epic adventure that will test the tenuous bond with his son and will force him to fight new monsters and gods for the good of the world.
As can be seen from the brief description, the series should cover the events of the previous chapter quite faithfully and will obviously be made as a live action. According to reports, it will be broadcast in over 240 countries.
