PART I — Privacy Policy

How Mr Kodi collects, uses, shares and protects your data — and the rights you have under India's DPDP Act, 2023.

At a Glance

  • We collect what the marketplace needs to work: your name, mobile number, listing details and approximate location.
  • Your phone number stays private — it is shown to another user only when they unlock your listing lead.
  • GPS is used only when you ask for it (or approve the permission) to fill your location — you can type your district, mandal and pincode manually instead.
  • You can request access, correction or deletion of your data at any time by writing to our Grievance Officer.

1. Introduction

Mr Kodi ("we," "us," "our" or the "Platform") operates a peer-to-peer classifieds marketplace that connects poultry breeders, farmers and rural sellers with local buyers across Andhra Pradesh and the rest of India. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our Android mobile application and our website (together, the "Platform"), how we use it, whom we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

This Policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). By creating an account, posting a listing or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run a trustworthy local marketplace.

  • Account information. Your name and 10-digit mobile number. Accounts are verified with a one-time password (OTP) delivered by SMS; the OTP itself is short-lived and is not stored after verification.
  • Listing information. Whatever you post: category (rooster, hen, chicks, eggs, medicine, feed, vaccines, nutrition, equipment), breed, age, weight, height, colour, quantity, price, description, photographs of the item, and any boost (promotion) status.
  • Location information. The district, mandal, pincode and detailed address you enter, which appear on your listings so nearby buyers can find you. If you grant the location permission and use "Auto Detect," we collect your device's GPS coordinates once to fill these fields, and we may store the pinpoint with your profile for distance sorting.
  • Device & technical information. A push-notification token (so we can alert you about buyer unlocks and platform notices), and standard diagnostic data such as app version and crash/error logs.
  • On-device preferences. Your selected app language and your signed-in session are stored on your device (encrypted secure storage and app storage). Language choice and basic profile details are also synced to your account so they survive reinstallations.
  • Support communications. If you contact us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond and resolve the issue.

We do not knowingly collect Aadhaar or other government identity numbers, caste or religion, biometric data, or precise continuous background location. We do not use your data for behavioural advertising, and the Platform contains no third-party ad trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Create, secure and verify your account, and authenticate you by SMS OTP.
  • Publish and display your listings to buyers, including in category and location-based searches.
  • Sort listings by distance so buyers see relevant nearby ads, using stored pinpoints.
  • Show your contact number to a buyer only after they unlock the listing lead.
  • Send service notifications — OTPs, unlock alerts and important platform announcements.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, fake listings and account misuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • Improve search quality, translations, performance and stability of the Platform.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations and lawful requests from authorities.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Under the DPDP Act we process your personal data on the following bases:

  • Your consent — given when you register and post listings; you may withdraw it as described in Section 9.
  • Legitimate uses — operating the marketplace you asked for, securing accounts, preventing fraud, and complying with legal obligations.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • With buyers, after an unlock. Your name and phone number become visible to a buyer only once they unlock the listing lead. Your full address and exact GPS coordinates are never published on your listing.
  • SMS gateway (Renflair). Your mobile number and the OTP are passed to our SMS provider solely to deliver your verification message.
  • Cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase). Account, listing and image data are stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) with security rules restricting access to your own records for writes and to current app clients for reads.
  • Location lookups. When you use Auto Detect or a pincode lookup, your coordinates, IP address or pincode may be sent to mapping/pincode services (such as device geocoding, BigDataCloud, ipapi.co and India Post) purely to return place names — these lookups are not used to profile you.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators or courts where required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Mr Kodi, its users or the public — for example, to report livestock-trade violations or fraud.
  • Business transfers. If we are ever acquired or merged, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy being honoured.

6. Data Retention

  • Account and profile data are kept while your account is active.
  • Listings are kept until you delete them, mark them sold, or close your account.
  • OTPs are transient and discarded shortly after the verification attempt.
  • Support conversations are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up on issues.

When you delete data or close your account, we delete or anonymise the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for the establishment or defence of legal claims.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for data in transit, encrypted on-device storage for session credentials, Firestore security rules that restrict who may read or write records, and least-privilege access for our team. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach affecting your data ever occurs, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required by law.

8. App Permissions

The Android app requests only these permissions, and only when the feature needs them:

  • Location (while in use) — to auto-fill your district/mandal/address and compute buyer distance. Optional; you can enter location manually.
  • Camera — to take listing photos if you choose "Take Photo" instead of the gallery.
  • Photos / storage — to attach photos you select from your gallery.
  • Notifications — for OTP delivery status, buyer unlocks and platform announcements. Optional.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings; the related features will simply stop working.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law (including the DPDP Act), you may:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data — most profile, location and listing fields can be edited directly in the app.
  • Erase data — delete listings from the app, or request full account deletion from us.
  • Withdraw consent — by closing your account; withdrawal does not affect processing already done.
  • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
  • Complain — raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (Section 14), and further with the Data Protection Board of India.

We respond to verified requests within the timelines required by law.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly create accounts for or collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it. Where required, we may process a child's data only with the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian.

11. International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure providers (for example, Google Firebase) may process or store data in data centres located outside India. We rely on the safeguards these providers offer and take steps to ensure your data receives protection consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

PART II — Terms of Use & Disclaimers

The rules for using the Platform, and the disclaimers that apply to every listing and transaction.

12. Nature of the Platform & Limitation of Liability

  • Peer-to-Peer Marketplace Only: Mr Kodi is strictly an online classifieds platform connecting buyers and sellers. We do not buy, sell, breed, inspect, manufacture, handle, or deliver any goods, birds, livestock, or manufactured products advertised on the Platform.
  • Disclaimer on Goods and Products: We are not responsible or liable for any goods, birds, or any products (living or manufactured) purchased, viewed, or transacted through listings on Mr Kodi. All listings, descriptions, health conditions, qualities, and claims are solely posted by independent users. Transactions are conducted entirely at the buyers' and sellers' own risk.

13. Fraud and Illegal Activities Disclaimer

  • User Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for verifying the identity of individuals they deal with and thoroughly inspecting any animals, birds, or goods prior to completing any transaction.
  • Exemption from Liability for Fraud: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mr Kodi, J N Enterprises, and its operators shall not be held responsible, liable, or accountable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, financial damages, fraud, scams, misrepresentation, or any illegal activities conducted by any user or third party on or through the Platform.
  • Cooperation with Authorities: While we do not police individual negotiations, if credible notice of fraud or illegal activity is brought to our attention, we reserve the right to ban offending accounts and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.

14. Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Grievance Redressal

Governing Law & Jurisdiction: This Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and all transactions or disputes arising out of or in connection with the Platform shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any legal claims, suits, or proceedings shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located within Eluru District, Andhra Pradesh.

15. Changes to This Policy & Terms

We may update this policy and terms as the Platform evolves or the law requires. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page, and the "Last Updated" date above will always show the current version. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised terms.
